A reminder for my soul

What do I think when I look at the pictures of my good friends and fun time we had together? Do I think: “this is my life”, or something quietly tells me: “this was my life”. Do I think of my future like this is something that may come my way or as something I’m heading for, something I live with? Is heaven a distant kingdom “somewhere over the rainbow” or a kingdom of God I’m building and expanding today? Sometimes I wonder how many days in my life I had spent wishing for or regretting for something.

People on the old photos are my friends (even when some of them will have to leave to live in a different country or to be with the Lord). The future I’m building starts today and I what I am doing today will determine and define it.
“The Kingdom of Heaven is near” – this was the claim of my Lord. It is not “somewhere over the rainbow” any more. And I am caught up right in the middle of it.

Next time you see a great picture from your collection, just do not forget to remind yourself – this is your life, it is in God’s hands and no one can snatch it away.
